Shayley Bourget.
I feel the need to give my input on Shayley Bourget and the news that he is leaving Of Mice & Men. Let me first start with saying that Shayley is one of my favorite singers of all time. The talent he possesses is so uncommon these days, and I’m truly sad to see him leave one of my favorite bands. When I first heard the news, I was shocked. I was speechless, I didn’t want to believe it. And as embarassing as it is to admit this, there were tears shed. I immediately thought of the Of Mice & Men’s song “My Understandings,” which happens to be my favorite song by the band and has helped me through numerous hardships. I thought about the impact that song has had on me, as well as the rest of OM&M’s songs, and was basically distraught at the idea that I would never get another song like this, or be able to meet Shay on tour and thank him for the lyrics he writes. I’m not gonna lie, it was extremely upsetting. My first concern was that Shay had either gotten kicked out of the band, or had a disagreement with the rest of the members and walked away. I was extremely pleased to find out that his departure was a completely amicable agreement between all five members. It took a lot of the sadness away. Of Mice & Men has been through so much bullshit in the last few years, all I could think was, oh God, not more drama. I’m happy to hear that there was no fight, no wrong doing. This decision was made based on the fact that Shay isn’t as healthy or as happy as he could be, and the only way for him to get the help he needs is if he can devote his time to fixing his “issues.” While I’m still sad, I support Shayley Bourget 100%. His music has inspired me more times than I can count, he’s truly gifted beyond belief and he has the potential to do great things. This isn’t the end of Of Mice & Men, shit happens but I know they’ll come out of it and progress to even bigger and better things. Shay, you’ve always been there for your fans and its our turn to be there for you. May 2012 treat you well, I wish you the best of luck in finding whatever it is you’re looking for. And to the rest of Of Mice, this is just a bump in the road to world domination. Love each and every one you.
